Subject:

Influence of form errors of a chamber filled with a liquid on the movement and stability of a ball rotating in the chamber was studied. A rising here diflective moment tends to direct the angular speed vector along the small semiaxis of the ellipsoid, i.e. a stable position of the rotor appears. Motion of a horizontal rotating rigid unstable cylinder in a stationary circular cylindrical chamber, which has finite length and is filled with viscous gas was solved. The inner cylinder is influenced by outer forces which vary periodically in time. The stability of a steady-state convective flow of a medium containing nonuniformly disturbed heavy impurity particles was studied.

1971 — graduated from Perm State University; 1971–74 post-graduation; 1979 — Ph.D. from Inst. of Therm. Phys. Sibirian Branch Acad. Sci. USSR (Novosibirsk); 1985 — Assoc. Prof., 1986 — Head of Dept. of Math. Modelling, 1992 — Prof., 1995 — Dean of Faculty of Math. (all Chelyabinsk State University); 1999 — Doctor of Sci. (Physics and Mathematics).

Member of Gesellschaft fur Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik (Berlin) and European Mathematical Society.
