Graduated (1984) from Moscow Institute of Geodesy, Aerophotosurvey and Cartography, Space Applications Faculty, majoring in Remote Sensing of Natural Resources. He is head of Terrestrial Ecosystems Monitoring Laboratory at the Space Research Institute
of Russian Academy of Sciences. His research interests are: remote sensing, image processing methods, technologies for ecosystems remote monitoring. He is author of monographs and more than 200 scientific articles in peer review journals.
