Graduated with honors from Penza Polytechnic Institute (now the Penza State University) in 1967 on a specialty "Computer Science". After graduate school at the same institute in 1973, the Scientific Council of the Ryazan Radio Engineering Institute defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. In 1990, at the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM) defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. He has the rank of assistant professor (1977) and professor (1992). Since 1996,
Head of Economic Cybernetics department. His research interests include pattern recognition, stochastic geometry, signs of recognition, image analysis, functional analysis, artificial intelligence, economic cybernetics.
