In 1981 he graduated from Kuibyshev (now Samara) State University (KuSU/SaSU). In 1993 he defended a doctoral dissertation as a Doctor of historical sciences. At present he is working as the head of the archeological laboratory of Povolzhskaya State Soicial Humanity Academy. The sphere of scientific interests is the history and culture of nomadic cattle-breeding tribes of the Volga and South Ural region in I millennium B.C. He is author of 63 scientific articles and co-author of 1 monograph.
