The Key Laboratory of High Temperature Gas Dynamics (LHD), founded in 1994, has gradually been growing on the base of the gas dynamics research groups in the Institute of Mechanics, CAS, which were established by Professors Hsue-Shen Tsien and Yung-Huai Kuo in the end of 1950s. Now it becomes an open research base devoted to theoretical research, wind tunnel experiments and numerical simulations on high temperature gas dynamics. At present, Professor Jiang Zonglin is the director of the laboratory, Professor Zhu Naiyi is the Chairman of the Academic Committee, and Professor Yu Hongru is the honorary Chairman of the Academic Committee of LHD.
