AGH-UST is one of the best, most prestigious and modern Polish universities, achieving high positions is rankings of institutions of higher education. AGH-UST is a leading Polish university in the field of modern technologies, also being of high position on the international scale. Long and rich tradition is also a factor determining the University's popularity – AGH-UST has existed for 90 years and during this time it has educated groups of the most required engineers in Poland.

At 15 faculties, and also at the Interfaculty School of Energetics and the Interfaculty School of Biomedical Engineering there are over 34000 full-time and part-time students, and over half a thousand of doctoral students. Students can gain qualifications in 30 branches of studies and over 170 specializations. The diversity of branches of science is also worth mentioning. The University also runs:

doctoral studies (555 doctoral students at 11 faculties), postgraduate studies (over 1900 students). The team of our University are over 2000 research workers, including nearly 500 independent researchers and scientists.

Over 500 research projects (both domestic and international) are currently being run. AGH-UST is also involved in educational projects. The University has over 120 agreements of direct collaboration with partners in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. Every year there are 1400 trips abroad.
