The Institute's major scientific interests are the following:
- study of heat and mechanical processes in the massif of frozen rocks and creation of effective methods for exploration of Northern deposits on the basis of control of these processes;
- development of scientific foundations of the complex managemeint of mineral-raw material resources and extraction of useful components from deposits in the permafrost field.
