Institute for Information Security Issues started its work as an organization department of Moscow State University thanks to Academic Council Resolution of June, 9 2003 and Chancellor of Moscow State University, academician V.A.Sadovnichy order # 553 of July, 13 2004.

Foundation of the Institute is a result of long and effective interdisciplinary information security studies that were conducted by different research groups of Moscow University.
