Kutaisi Muskhelishvili State Technical University, a second largest technical institution of Imereti was founded in 1973 (24th of September) on the basis of the Kutaisian faculty of the Technical University of Georgia. Since  21.09.1992 the institution functions with a status of university. The university prepares engineers for the national agriculture in 33 majors. Currently there are 5300 students enrolled in the university and its institutions.
