University of Turin, ItalyThe University of Turin is one of the most ancient and prestigious Italian universities. With around 70.000 students, 4.000 academic, administrative and technical staff, 1800 post-graduate and post-doctoral students and 120 buildings in various parts of Turin and at key locations across the Piedmont Region, the University of Torino can claim to be a kind of city-within-a-city, promoting culture and generating research, innovation, training and employment.

The University of Turin is today one of the largest Italian Universities, open to the international dimension both in the field of research and training. It carries out scientific research and organises courses in all disciplines except Engineering and Architecture. The University is an integral part of the community, changing it for the better, reviving urban and suburban areas, promoting cultural interaction and social integration, encouraging dialogue and insight into current realities and promoting social development.

The University boasts 12 Faculties covering virtually every field of knowledge and 3 of the top 11 research centres in the country in the field of Medical Diagnostic, Biosensoristics and Nanotechnologies. Some of the degree courses offered are unique in Italy, such Military Strategy, Biotechnology, Sport Sciences, Restoration and Conservation (in Venaria). Torino University has always been at the forefront of research but is now branching out into newer but equally important sectors, such as food science, social politics, IT, performing arts and communication sciences. The University is also dedicated to carrying forward its illustrious tradition of research in traditional subjects such as history, philosophy, law, economics and medicine.
