Toyama University is a regional core university, with five faculties (Humanities, Education, Economics, Science, and Technology) and four graduate schools, as well as various centers and facilities for research and education. With our guiding principles: Respect for Life, Genuine Humanity and Creativity, and Mutual Prosperity of University and Society, we seek to make contributions to local community as well as promote international co-operation through our research and education.

The University has so far sent out  thousands of young people who, with their creative and critical minds, are actively working in a variety of professions: and our scholarly achievements are highly regarded at home and abroad.

Toyama University has newly started as a National University Corporation from April 1, 2004. It intends to take responsibility for educational and social issues. Moreover, Toyama University will merge with Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University and Takaoka National College in October 2005. As an integrated university we will cover wider range of academic fields. We are now working to reform the system and organization to establish a new Toyama University.
