The Geoelectromagnetic Research Center was founded in 1993 and is presently one of the Centers of Institute of the Physics of the Earth (IPE RAS). The GEMRC RAS employs now 47 staff, of whom 31 are R&D employes (including 7 Professors and 12 Doctors).

1. theory of natural EM fields in anisotropic and frequency dispersed conductivity medium;
2. physical and mathematical foundations of interrelation of seismic and electromagnetic phenomena in porous and watersaturated rocks;
3. algorithms and software packages for numerical modeling of EM fields induced in 3D anisotropic earth by natural and controlled sources;
4. methods for 3D EM data interpretation;
5. high resolution subsurface electromagnetics;
6. EM tomography of volcanoes and faults;
7. marine electromagnetics;
8. regional MT studies aimed at construction of 3D conductivity models;
9. application of EM methods to environmental investigations;
10. EM monitoring of geodynamic processes.
