Changsha University of Science and Technology is an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university integrating engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts and law, with strong disciplinary advantages and prominent features in the industries of communications, electric power and water conservancy. The university is jointly established by the Central Government and Hunan Provincial Government, mainly under the administration of Hunan Province.

The university is located on Jinpenling and Yuntang Campuses, with an area of182.57 hectares. The university has fixed assets totaling 1,344 million yuan (around US$ 175 million), among which the apparatus and equipment for teaching and research are valued at 217 million yuan. The university has a collection of more than 2,924,900 books and a Gigabit Backbone Networking system. The multimedia classrooms and language laboratories can seat 10,311 students.
