The Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB) founded in 1952 is one of the leading Russian schools of higher education on fundamental and scientific problems in the field of architecture and construction. TSUAB is incorporated as the top school for the State program "Architecture and Construction".

The University is accredited by the Russian State Building Department and two of its major specialities are accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (Great Britain).

It has a right to conduct license training and professional certification of managers and specialists from various construction and municipal plants or firms.

Teaching and research are carried out at 39 departments staffed with more than 400 lecturers. There are 63 professors, DScs, and 232 candidates of science, PhDs inclusive. The total number of full and part time students is 7820. The number of instructors and personnel is 1497.

At the university departments training of BsSc, graduate specialists and MsSc in all major fields of architecture and construction is provided: in architecture of homes and public buildings; industrial and civil construction; production of building units; heat and gas supply systems; ventilation, water supply and sewage systems; nature resources saving; highways and bridges construction; lifting gear, construction and road machines and equipment; construction management.

Within the university there are 3 Institutes (Qualification Improvement Institute, Research Institute of Building Materials and Institute of Distance Education), 2 international centers for training specialists, 2 scientific councils on 7 specialties and 5 scientific laboratories.

Postgraduate programs provide training in 24 specialities: theory of architecture and town building, building materials and goods, technology and organization of industrial and civil construction, road building machinery, construction mechanics, bridge and tunnel construction, hydrogeology, water supply and sewage system, construction and road machines and equipment, engineering geology, physics of solid substances and others.

The campus of the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building includes 8 study buildings and laboratories, scientific library houses more than 60000 books, several students' halls of residence, a recreation center, and a refectory. The sport center includes some gyms, a shooting gallery, a set of sport grounds, which makes it possible for students to go in for many kinds of sport.
