Shahrekourd University is located in the west of Chaharmahal Bakhtiari province. In 1326 the faculty of Animal Husbandry, a rent building at the center of the University and as a branch of Isfahan University, accepted 30 students in Animal Husbandry, and continued its work until 1359. After the Cultural Revolution, when the universities were opening again in 1361, the faculty of Agriculture, under the consideration of Isfahan University of Technology, began its work in two fields of Agriculture and Livestock. In the same year they bought 150 hectares of a ground to build a building in the west of Shahrekourd. An area of 60 hectares was covered with plants and the rest was devoted to farming and road construction. In 364 the faculty of Agriculture was promoted to a higher education complex and besides the two mentioned fields, students were accepted in three new fields: Agronomy and Plant Breeding; Natural Resources; and Veterinary. In 1369 more than 106 hectares of the northern part and the jungle park with the eastern farms of the complex were joined to the former lands making a total of 253 hectares. Then, according to the improvements of the complex in the province, the Leader's trip to Chaharmahal Bakhtiari, the help of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and the act passed by the Ministry in 1370, the complex changed to Shahrekourd University. There was an agreement on the design of the University and it was completed by consultative engineers in 1369 and the studies finished in 1343. With regard to the design, supposed to be completed in 20 years, 106000 square meters were devoted to educational areas, to ensure the welfare of every one. In 1374, two important projects of the University namely the faculties of Basic Sciences and Engineering inaugurated and 14176 square meters were devoted to each. With the help of the president, in 1377, the two faculties started their educational activities.
