Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University (BSTU) was founded in 1970.

Regarding the range of specialities, faculties, departments and laboratory structure the University is a unique higher educational institution of civil engineering profile not only in Russia but also in Europe. Regarding the quality of education, the teaching staff, the level of scientific researches, experimental and industrial facilities BSTU is one of the best higher educational institutions of Russia.

Industrial and civil engineering, road and airfield constructions, manufacture of building materials, units and structures are the specialities of the university that passed international accreditation.

The campus includes educational and laboratory buildings, experimental and industrial facilities, scientific library, students' hostels, residential blocks of flats for teaching staff, restaurant, cultural centre for students, sport grounds and gymnasiums. The construction of the stadium will soon be completed. The next step will be the swimming pool.

Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University is a highly developed modern educational and scientific complex. More than 11 faculties and 40 departments are offered here. There are branches in several regions of Russia.

The assosiation of educational institutions headed by the University includes the Belgorod Institute of Engineering and Economics, the Institute of Refresher Courses for specialists, Technical Schools and Lyceums.

Classrooms and laboratories are equipped with modern facilities. Local computer net is one of the best in Russia and has logon to Internet.

More than 60 doctors of science and professors, 250 candidates of science and assistant professors conduct educational process and scientific researches.

Engineers of more than 20 specialities and specializations are trained here. These are all the specialities necessary for the building industry and the industry of building materials. More than 15 000 students including students from European, Asian and African countries study at the University.

The University is a large centre of science where fundamental and applied scientific researches are conducted. From the total amount of scientific researches more than 75% are done on the demand of the construction industry. Large scientific research schools were founded in the sphere of building materials. Five dissertational councils including 3 doctors' councils are functioning. The University trains postgraduate students in 21 specialities. At the moment there are about 300 postgraduate students and 5 councils for conferring advanced academic degrees.

Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University has close relations with the State Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences of Russia, with different scientific research centers and enterprises, related educational institutions. The University cooperates with foreign firms and educational institutions in the USA, Great Britain, China, Germany, Egypt, Poland and other countries.
