International conference "Optimization and Applications in Control and Data Science"
on the occasion of Boris Polyak's 80th birthday (May 13–15, 2015, Kaluga, Kaluga State University. K. E. Tsiolkovsky)
The conference focus is on the recent research in Modern Theory and Methods of Optimization and their implications in Control and Data Analysis. Modern Optimization is an impressive example of mathematical theory, which justifies the majority of computationally effcient algorithms for important classes of optimization problems. The intensive development of the optimization theory in Russia started over 50 years ago, and many of its important results are tightly related to Boris Polyak. The conference is held on the occasion of his 80th birthday and will focus on the two specific topics:
- breakthrough optimization theory and methods;
- techniques for solving complex optimization problems in different application areas.
The conference covers the following scientific directions:
- optimization algorithms (structured optimization, reduced complexity methods for large-scale problems, etc);
- applications in Control Theory (control synthesis, stability analysis, ...)
- complexity of statistical problems and computational methods for statistical estimation and learning (optimization methods for inverse problems, dimension reduction, ...)
