Conferences on infinite-dimensional analysis and its applications were initiated by O.G. Smolyanov, who made a huge contribution to the development of this field of mathematics, and the first of them, held at Moscow State University, were dedicated to the memory of S.V. Fomin, whom O.G. Smolyanov considered his informal supervisor.
