The Gdańsk Division of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in Sopot, Poland, near Gdańsk. The institute is the research center of mathematics in Poland.

The division was established in 1967. Since then many a mathematician has either been affiliated with this place or come here as a visitor. The scientific investigations carried in the division have covered mainly some areas of probability theory, approximation theory, functional analysis and topology. The mathematicians affiliated with our division at present are members of the departments of Probability Theory and Topology. The long-standing interaction and research cooperation with mathematicians from the University of Gdansk and the Technical University of Gdansk is essential, as witnessed by our seminars.

The division has a library, which serves mathematical community of the area and is a division of the Central Mathematical Library of the institute. It also maintains a sizeable archive of photographs, manuscripts and other memorabilia pertinent to the history of mathematics in Poland.
