Abstract:
Bicompact schemes for the system of one-dimensional Maxwell equations in the stationary and nonstationary cases are tested. A number of representative benchmark problems that have exact generalized solutions are solved numerically. Some of them are considered for the first time. Comparison with the most popular well-known approaches–finite difference method in the time domain and the finite element method–is made. These computations convincingly demonstrate advantages of bicompact schemes in problems with stratified media.
