Abstract:
A definition of the aerodynamic efficiency of the axial flow fan as a ratio of the power of the air flow generated by the fan to the power of the drag force acting on the rotor blades is proposed. The aerodynamic efficiency of the single-stage axial flow fan consisting of a rotor and straightener is estimated based on numerical simulation using the ANSYS FLUENT computational package. The influence of the rotational speed of the rotor and the rotor blades orientation on the air flow rate, static pressure, efficiency of the fan, and pressure drop as a function of the flow rate is demonstrated. Matching functions for formulas describing a pressure drop and volume flow rate in dependence on the rotor speed and the orientation angle of rotor blades are obtained by numerical simulation for the single-stage axial fan. It is shown that the pressure drop in the fan as a function of the volume flow rate does not depend on the orientation angle of the rotor blade.
