Abstract:
The paper is focused on electrodynamic suspension (EDS) systems of maglev vehicles utilizing continuous tracks. Several track concepts are modelled for SC EDS and PM EDS. Detailed computational models enabled assessment of lift, drag, and lateral forces in terms of levitation height, speed and transverse motion. The drag-related losses at operating speeds have been evaluated. Results of the studies form a basis to parametrical optimization of the guidance/propulsion system magnets and levitation system magnets. The computational algorithms, techniques and models are proposed to support design solutions for the levitation and track structures. Refs 14. Figs 18. Tables 2.
