Some Results of Experimental Researches of New Means for Creation Wide Channel in an Ice Floes for Heavy-Tonnage Ships Safe Journey

Abstract: One of the problems of our marine fleet and shipbuilding is creation of the effective transport systems providing uninterrupted and safe export of hydrocarbonic raw materials from regions of the Far North and the Far East, and also transit navigation at Arctic ocean. Numerous researches show that efficiency of transport system essentially depends on deadweight of used transport ships that defines necessity of heavy-tonnage ships navigation maintenance in ices. The possible decision of a problem is offered in Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute. It decision represents the icebreaker of essentially new architectural type which can create the ice channel in width more than 50 m. The icebreakers work is carried out at consumption concerning small level of power. Offered icebreaker represents three or four icebreaking hulls established on a uniform platform. Feature of hulls is that it have rather small sizes, and each of it is comparable to hull of average or small icebreaker. On each hull it's established one propulsion device, and on head and back hulls it there can be thruster. Average hulls are equipped by traditional screw propellers. The important feature of offered decision is a relative positioning of separate hulls of icebreaker from each other. For the new icebreaker such relative positioning of hulls allows not only to create the wide channel but also to reduce ice resistance. The new technical decision has been formulated on the basis of various modelling tests analysis in ice basin, and also on the basis of theoretical calculations. In the report some results of an experimental research of new icebreaker are resulted.
