Forced waves on shallow water

Yu. L. Yakimov, A. Yu. Yakimov

Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Mechanics
Abstract: Plane surface waves induced by a uniformly moving region of abnormal pressure are studied in a nonlinear formulation. The narrow band method can be used to analyze the forced wave motion. An inverse problem is solved when the surface is given in the form of a model solution in the pressure region. The motion of a half-submerged wing of a given displacement and the motion of an abnormal pressure region with a given external force are described in analytical form.
Key words: wave, abnormal pressure, wing, limiting condition, potential flow, conformal mapping.
