An iterative solution method for the Stokes problem with variable viscosity

P. P. Grinevich

Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics
Abstract: An iterative method for efficient solution of the Stokes problem with a variable viscosity is considered. A preconditioner for the Shur complement is constructed taking into account the variable viscosity. The efficiency analysis is given. An application of the preconditioner for solving one problem of the mantle convection modelling is considered.
Key words: iterative methods, saddle-point problem, variable viscosity.
