Abstract: In some model of ZFC, it is proved that regular $F_\sigma$-paranormal off of the diagonal countably compact spaces are first countable and compact.
Key words: normality, countable paracompactness, paranormality, $F_\sigma$-paranormality, topological properties off of the diagonal, free sequence, first axiom of countability.
