Оn the experimental analysis of normal impact against a flexible membrane

V. S. Polevtseva
Abstract: The paper presents the results of experimental analysis of the process of normal impact of a cone against a flexible infinite membrane with a constant velocity. It is found that at certain impact velocities and angles of the striking cone the membrane moves while clinging to the cone. In the absence of clinging in the region of meridional motion the purely conic motion was not observed; for any impact velocity. In the case of a freemotion of the membrane struck by a cone with any angle at the apex a region of clinging was observed near the point of impact. The results obtained are compared with theoretical investigations of other authors.
