A scheme for evaluating the Boltzmann collision integral

E. A. Malkov, M. S. Ivanov

Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk
Abstract: A scheme developed for the highly accurate evaluation of the Boltzmann collision integral in rarefied gas flows is proposed. Test computations show that the proposed scheme makes it possible to find the numerical solutions of the Boltzmann equation in a wide range of flow velocities, including extremely slow flows.
Keywords: rarefied gas dynamics; Boltzmann equation; numerical methods.
