Abstract:
The results of experimental studies of the influence of the amount and intensity of atmospheric rainfall on the formation of $\beta$-background in the surface layer of the atmosphere are presented. Beta-background is shown to be a sensitive indicator of rainfall. It was experimentally established that an increase in the flux density of $\beta$-radiation coincides with the periods of rainfall and correlates with the current value of the amount of precipitation. By the shape of the response of the beta background, it is possible to determine the beginning and end of rainfall. The time derivative of the filtered beta radiation flux density correlates with the intensity of rainfall
