Anisotropic absorption of infrared radiation in tellurium single crystals

Abstract:
The paper deals with theoretical and experimental investigation of infrared radiation absorption in tellurium single crystals. Optical attenuation coefficients ($\alpha_\mathrm{min}=0.2$ cm$^{-1}$ and $\alpha_\mathrm{max}=4.1$ cm$^{-1}$) were recorded for ordinary and extraordinary polarized radiation, respectively, at a wavelength of $\lambda=10.6$ mkm of carbon dioxide laser radiation. Optical transmission of the tellurium samples was determined for arbitrary polarized radiation depending on the propagation angles against the optical axis of the crystal.
