Perspectives for Optical Cooling of Doped Nanocrystalline Powders

Abstract:
Optical and thermal features of nanocrystalline powders are discussed. The consequences of these features and their influence on the efficiency of laser cooling is analyzed. The enhancement mechanisms essential to increase the laser cooling efficiency using nanopowders are predicted.
