CONFERENCES AND SYMPOSIA

50th anniversary of the Institute of Spectroscopy of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Scientific session of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 20 June 2018)

Abstract: A scientific session of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Spectroscopy of RAS was held on 20 June 2018 in the conference hall of the Institute of Spectroscopy (IS RAS).

The agenda for the session comprised the following reports:

(1) Zadkov V N (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “History of the development and achievements of IS RAS”;

(2) Balykin V I (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “Planar plasmon optics and its applications”;

(3) Boldyrev K N (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “New effects of the electron–phonon interaction in dielectrics”;

(4) Chekalin S V (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “Light bullet dynamics in uniform dielectrics”;

(5) Aseyev S A (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “Investigation of structural dynamics of substances using ultrafast electron diffraction and microscopy”;

(6) Naumov A V (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “Fluorescence nanoscopy of single molecules and quantum dots”;

(7) Medvedev V V (Institute of Spectroscopy, RAS, Troitsk, Moscow) “Physical principles of EUV lithography sources”;

(8) Grimm R (University of Innsbruck and Austrian Academy of Sciences) “Ultracold atoms in optical dipole traps”.

The papers written on the base of talks 2–7 are presented below. A review expanding report 8 will appear in one of the subsequent issues of the Physics–Uspekhi journal.
