Abstract: The current situation in high-energy physics is discussed. The review is focused on theoretical ideas underlying new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) of fundamental interactions: extending the SM symmetry group, adding new particles, increasing the space dimension, and going beyond the limits of local quantum field theory. The priority tasks of contemporary high-energy physics are explored.
