Abstract:
A formal possibility of describing a one-dimensional dissipative problem $\ddot x=f\,(x,\dot x)$ with completely conservative Lagrange's or Hamilton's equations is discussed. A reference case of a harmonic oscillator with linear friction is considered in detail.
