Abstract:
This paper reviews experimental and theoretical work on the study of the Fermi surface of pure metals by the aid of high-frequency size effects. Particular attention is given to little-known new ballistic effects such as the time of flight effect, multichannel size effect, and nonlinear size effect.
The study was supported by the Russian Academy of Sciences (program: Actual Problems of Low-Temperature Physics of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (project 14-02-00462). Part of the studies carried out at the Institut de Physique Experimentale, Universitˊe de Lausanne, Switzerland was supported by the Swiss National Foundation for Scientific Research organizations.
