Abstract: We discuss the problem of the visual recognition of mirror-like objects, i.e., bodies with an ideally smooth (analytic) surface. The visual perception of such objects is essentially dependent on their environment, in contrast to bodies with an irregular (rough) surface, whose visual images are independent of the environment.
