REVIEWS OF TOPICAL PROBLEMS

Holey fibers

A. M. Zheltikov

International Laser Center of Moscow State University
References:
Abstract: A brief review of the conceptual and technological progress achieved in various areas of physics due to the extensive use of holey fibers is provided. The cladding in these new fibers consists of an array of hollow silica fibers fused and processed at a high temperature. The basic properties of such fibers are considered and physical problems that can be solved with the use of such structures are discussed.
