METHODOLOGICAL NOTES

On incorrect formulations of the equivalence principle

A. A. Logunov, M. A. Mestvirishvili, Yu. V. Chugreev

Institute for High Energy Physics, Protvino, Moskovskaya obl.
Abstract: Early formulations of the equivalence principle (EP) [1—3, 6] are discussed and a critical analysis of them is given. It is shown that the main conclusions of papers [3, 5] are erroneous. The formulation of EP is presented as given by A Einstein in 1933 [9]. It is this formulation of EP that underlies the general theory of relativity (GTR).
