Abstract: The paper presents results of a computer simulation on the effectiveness of the project for rivers' beds clearing in the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain on the basis of a digital terrain model and the hydrodynamic model of flooding. The main purpose of this project is increasing the flooding land area. We found out the optimal parameters of the project and the flood hydrograph of Volga Hydroelectric Power Station under empirically based strategy of spatial distribution of works.
