Abstract: We develop a decision support system for assessment of railway lines throughput on the basis of train movement simulation. We explain DSS functions, structure, typical usage scenarios, and provide the GPSS World (language for discrete-event processes modeling) code of the train movement simulation model. We consider functions of a web-based version of the system, describe details of the railway lines throughput assessment procedure, and explain software and hardware requirements.
Keywords: decision support system, simulation, discrete event process, railway throughput.
