Abstract: The model of minimization of power shortage in the electrical power system is considered. The model takes into account nonlinear power loss in power lines, and is intended for analysis of reliability problems in electric power systems. The model is reduced to the convex optimization problem. Interior point algorithm using quadratic approximations of constraints is suggested for model implementation. Comparative results of numerical calculations are presented.
Keywords: electric power system, reliability, power shortage, interior point method, quadratic approximation.
