Abstract: Aspects of building of data transmission channel in modern safety of shipping management systems are considered. Comparative analysis of current solutions is carried out. Requirements to the characteristics of the IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) wireless equipment working in 10-66 GHz frequency band and to be used to ensure data transmission between elements of safety of shipping systems were determined on example of Novorossiysk Vessel Traffic System (VTS) for the first time.
Keywords: safety of shipping; safety of shipping management systems; VTS; AIS; GMDSS; DGNSS; VTMIS; data transmission; wireless networks; IEEE 802.16; WiMAX; radio relay lines.
