Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Gas and Plasma
Fluid-aspects and gas-dynamical aspects of heat-transfer in injection bubbling and boiling of liquids

Abstract:
Systematic experiments have been conducted on heat transfer in the bubbling of distilled water by the injection of various gases (argon, nitrogen, helium, and hydrogen) through perforated and microporous plates. The experiments demonstrate the existence of an intimate hydrodynamic analogy between the processes of fully developed boiling and bubbling. It is found that the heat transfer in fully developed nucleate bubbling is governed by two limiting self-similar laws, the first of which coincides with the heat-transfer law associated with fully developed nucleate boiling. The influence of compressibility on the heat-transfer process in boiling and bubbling is determined.
