Abstract: The state of equilibrium in strongly ionized nitrogen at a pressure of $p = 0. 075$ atm is studied. A quiescent, steady-state mass of plasma was formed in a source based on a pulsed discharge in an open quartz tube. The plasma was observed along the axis of the discharge, using a photographic method of recording.
