Thermodynamic description of vibrational relaxation in binary mixtures of diatomic molecules

Abstract: A description is given of the vibrational relaxation process in a mixture obeying nonequilibrium thermodynamics. It is shown that the linear relations of thermodynamics of irreversible processes are applicable to vibrational relaxation only at high vibrational and translational temperatures.
