Flow of a radiating gas over a blunt body with intense vaporization

Abstract: A solution is given to the problem of flow of a radiating gas over a blunt body with intense surface vaporization. In flow over bodies at high enough gas density there is considerable radiative heating, and therefore a gasdynamic flow model is assumed in which the flow passes into the shock layer and into the vapor layer, the latter separated by a contact surface.
