Measurement of the density of rarefied gas and plasma by means of an electron beam

Abstract:
The possibilities of actively probing rarefied plasma flows with an electron beam are considered. For temperatures of several thousands of degrees the use of the optical part of the spectrum is impeded as a result of the appearance of the plasma recombination continuum. The characteristic x-ray radiation of argon excited by an electron beam is studied.
