Plasma Investigations

Plasma flow in a large-diameter arc channel

E. P. Pakhomov, I. M. Yartsev

Institute for High Temperatures, USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract: The effects of perturbing factors on argon plasma flow properties are investigated. Experimental data are presented on the sensitivity of the laminar flow characteristics of a plasma of atmospheric pressure argon in the channel of a cold, wall stabilized, constant current arc. The factors causing perturbation investigated were the variable voltage across the arc and the perpendicular magnetic field.
