Arc discharge model on electrodes of an MHD generator

Abstract: Calculation methods of flows in MHD channels are reviewed. A quantitative analysis is carried out to the voltage-current characteristic of MHD generator electrodes in the arc discharge mode. In order to close the equations for the voltage-current characteristic, results are invoked of the solution of a two-dimensional electrodynamic problem on the current and potential distribution near the arc. Experimental data are compared with calculated values.
