Calculation of some thermodynamic characteristics of structural vacancies in high-melting compounds of the type of zirconium and niobium carbides

Abstract:
The process of high-temperature vacuum vaporization of high-melting compounds of variable composition is considered by means of statistical thermodynamics. The energy of formation of structural vacancies in zirconium and niobium carbides is calculated, and also the heats of formation of these compounds in their regions of homogeneity. A comparison of the calculated and experimental data reveals a good mutual agreement.
